Lauren Drake, our founder, has sat on both sides of the therapy chair. She’s been a recipient of mental health services and she has provided mental health services for just under 10 years.

After being in the world of mental health for almost a decade, it became abundantly clear that something isn’t working; simply because these questions started coming up:

  • Why are mental health struggles a baseline right now?

  • Why are so many people receiving life-long therapy? — A check up or return for support after something changes is totally appropriate, but to “need” someone forever is co-dependency, not healing.

  • Why are medications and their efficacy so inconsistent, and often, disappointing?

  • Why are people told to “keep doing more of the same” if it isn’t working?

To say the least, there were a lot of questions that didn’t lead to feelings of contentment with how mental health was being approached.

What we put in and how we treat our body matters. Our diet, our chronic illness, stomach issues, auto-immune struggles, nervous system neglect, and SO much more play a large role in our overall wellness. Our physical health will not be overlooked during this approach to counseling.

You know how sometime in life we can feel like it’s Groundhog Day (or week, month, year?) A lot of the same. Consistently frustrated with friendships, romantic relationships, overwhelming jobs that lead to burn out, toxic family relationships, and more? Do you feel like consistently life just keeps you stressed? - This is where our various approaches to subconscious healing comes in. We developed familiar patterns and beliefs pretty early in life and these run on autopilot without our awareness. In this approach, we gain awareness AND we replace those autopilot patterns with new healthy ones.

Some feelings just feel more safe than others. Ever feel overwhelming anger? Or even rage? And after the moment, minutes, hours pass you still don’t feel better, even if you’re not raging anymore? Feelings are layered. They are simply a gift to tell us that we have an unmet need. Normally, we don’t know what to do with the feeling. We struggle to recognize that it’s simply a message from a deeper place within. Social media tells us to bypass emotions or to hide them, when your feelings are a true gift and key piece to your wellness. We embrace them and teach you how to give yourself grace while you decipher the heavy messages.

Spiritual Wellness

This can come in a lot of different ways. You may feel strongly about your religion or faith. You may believe in a higher power. You might connect to the elements or the universe. Any and all beliefs are valid and valued in our approach to wellness. Energy is real. It exists and it matters. When our internal energy is out of balance, it affects a lot of different areas of our lives. This can be a large part of your counseling or it could be mentioned occasionally, but your ability to sense your inner guidance, gut feelings, or intuition all matters.

You have all the answers to how to feel your best within. Our role is to educate, support, and guide you to understand and embrace all of your Meraki and inner beauty so you can be and feel your best. We provide you with tools and you become your own best healer. The goal is not to create forever clients, but rather to be your best guide on becoming the expert in your life.
